Robert, who had been riding in his father’s lorries from a very early age, bought a lorry and at the age of 22 started to run his own haulage business at the side of his father on 1st May 1987. Various contracts were secured over the following years but one thing always remained constant with any customer, and that was to give them the best delivery service they could have.
Today, Wakefield’s of Longford still provide a top quality delivery service but instead of just a flat lorry Robert’s delivery fleet include a flat lorry and trailer, if required a Hiab can be specified to unload and install the customers goods, also available is a curtainsided lorry with a tailift, again, to provide unloading facilities for the consignment. Once unloaded, do not consider your goods dumped, as if required, Robert will see your goods are delivered and help with their installation, one recent contract saw computer equipment to be delivered to schools in South Wales, each individual cabinet to a specified classroom, some up 4 flights of stairs. The schools all commented on Robert’s level of commitment to see the job through to completion no matter what obstacles were put in his way.
